Hatfield, MA — For the week ending 1/15/2017, Wesleyan’s Alissandra Lampietti and Dartmouth’s Alvin Heumann have been named the women’s and men’s Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week.

Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players.

Alessandra Lampietti (Wesleyan University): The 24th-ranked Wesleyan Cardinals visited 18th-ranked Bowdoin last week. Sophomore Alissandra Lampietti faced Bowdoin’s #8, Mariela Mendoza. After trailing 0-2 in games, Lampietti captured the next three games to win the match (10-12, 6-11, 11-6, 13-11, and 11-9), which helped Wesleyan to a 5-4 team victory. On the week, Lampietti also had victories over Tufts, Haverford, and Colby.

Alvin Heumann (Dartmouth College): On Saturday, 9th-ranked Dartmouth visited 11th-ranked Princeton. With the match tied at 3-3, Dartmouth’s #1 Alvin Heumann found himself down 0-2 in games to Princeton’s Adhitya Raghavan. The junior battled back and captured crucial match in five games (7-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5, and 11-8). This helped Dartmouth to their second consecutive and second overall victory against Princeton.
