Northampton, MA — For the week ending 11/17/2013, Georgetown’s Elizabeth Johnson and the Naval Academy’s Jim Kacergis have been named the women’s and men’s Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week.

Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players.

Elizabeth Johnson (Georgetown): The Georgetown and Johns Hopkins match has been closely contested the past few seasons. Georgetown, ranked 30th, upset 29th-ranked Johns Hopkins, 6-3. Johnson, Georgetown’s number 6, faced Johns Hopkins’ Caroline Plapinger. Like their teams, the two players matched up well. Johnson ultimately prevailed in four games (16-14, 7-11, 11-8, and 11-7).

Jim Kacergis (Naval Academy): With the Navy and Drexel match tied at 3-3, junior Kacergis took to the court at the number two position. He faced Drexel senior Justin Singh. The two played a tight three-game match, with Kacergis ultimately winning (12-10, 11-7, and 11-9). Navy prevailed in the team match 5-4. Kacergis went 4-0 at the Navy Round Robin, with victories against Bucknell, Drexel, Georgetown, and Hobart.
