Hamilton College Clinton, NY — Hamilton only graduated two players from its starting line-up, but both played in the top three. However, the Continentals are optimistic about the upcoming season. “We’ve adequately replaced the departing seniors with some new, exciting talent. Along with some veteran players, we look forward to a very positive season,” says Hamilton sports information director Jim Taylor. The new talent includes Rachel Newman, a transfer student who played number 1 for William Smith last season, and Lillie Simourian, who played number 1 for Milton Academy; Newman and Simourian are both expected to play in the top three. Additionally, Perry Von Stade (Lawrenceville School) and Alex Regan (Westminster School) will add more depth to the Continentals’ line-up. A lot is going on with the Hamilton program: the team is planning a training trip to the San Francisco area and volunteer work with Hamilton Against Hunger and urban squash programs. A new full-time assistant coach will be joining the program, and former Colby number 1 Kate Pistel will also be joining the staff. Hamilton will also be hosting the NESCAC championships for the first time ever. “We think we have a very cohesive team that works hard, is supportive and respectful of each other and the teams and opponents that we are playing,” says Taylor.
