Haverford College Haverford, PA — Haverford won the 2013 Barnaby Award as the most improved team. In 2012, the Fords competed in the F Division, winning the Serues Cup and finishing 41st in the nation. A year later, Haverford had moved up into the D Division and was ranked 32nd by the end of the season. The Fords will have an uphill battle in continuing that pace of improvement. “This season the team has a lot of challenges facing them with having lost four seniors and having two players abroad in the fall,” observes head coach Niki Clement. “I expect that this will make the group even more motivated to perform to the best of their abilities after coming off a successful season last year. The returners will have an opportunity to step into new roles and continue to develop their game, and I know this group will step up to the new challenges that come with every new season.” Aaron Horwitz  of Riverdale Country School in New York City will be joining the team, which is targeting three areas of improvement: having high quality performance during matches; maintaining high fitness levels; and continuing to develop their mental game.
