Northampton, MA — For the week ending 1/13/2013, Princeton’s Hallie Dewey and Navy’s Cotter Walker have been named the women’s and men’s Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week.

Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players. Nominations are due each Monday by 6 PM ET.

There were a number of worthy candidates this week, including Harvard’s Laura Gemmell, who went 2-0 on the week, and Bowdoin’s Andrew Hilboldt, who is 3-0 in 2013.

Hallie Dewey (Princeton University): On Saturday, Princeton hosted top-ranked Harvard. Dewey, sophomore, faced Harvard’s Isabelle Dowling in the match at the #8 position. After falling behind 0-2, Dewey came back to win the final three games, which included a 11-9 victory in the fifth game  (5-11, 10-12, 11-3, 11-6, and 11-9). Dewey’s victory was the third individual victory of the day for the Tigers, who went on to defeat the Crimson.

Cotter Walker (Naval Academy): Navy senior Cotter Walker helped the Midshipmen upset 11th-ranked Western Ontario.  At the #9 position, Walker faced Western Ontario’s Matt Sharpe. After winning the first game, Walker was down 1-2 going into the fourth game. He went on to win the match in five games (11-9, 7-11, 6-11, 11-6, and 11-7). His victory helped Navy record the team victory, 5-4.
