Northampton, MA — For the week ending 12/9/2012, Lauren Nelson (Wesleyan University) and Brian Mullen (Conn College) have been named the women’s and men’s Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week.

Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week should have a significant impact on his or her team’s performance during the prior week and demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches and Sports Information Directors may nominate players. Nominations are due each Monday by 6 PM ET.

Lauren Nelson (Wesleyan University): Nelson, a sophomore, has helped Wesleyan finish the first semester with a 9-2 team record, the Cardinals’ best start since 1996 – 1997 season. Playing at #3 against Mount Holyoke, Nelson faced Samantha Rosado. Nelson won the match in four tight games (11-6, 9-11, 12-10, and 11-9) to help Wesleyan defeat Mount Holyoke for the first time since the 2001 – 2002 season. Nelson also defeated Conn College’s Ashley Arthur over the weekend (11-6, 9-11, 11-9, and 11-5).

Brian Mullen (Conn College): Mullen, a sophomore, played #1 for Connecticut College this weekend against Wesleyan and Vassar. In the Camels’ loss to the Cardinals, Mullen defeated Guy Davidson in three close games (11-9, 11-9, and 14-12). In the Camels’ victory over Vassar, Mullen defeated Jacob Harris (11-9, 11-5, and 11-9).
