Boston, MA — On the last day of the 2012 Men’s National Team Championships, Northeastern prevailed over Georgetown 6-3. The win cemented the Huskies’ status as the number 2 club team in the nation behind Stanford. According to club president Daniel Hsu, Northeastern’s goals for the season are to stay competitive in the D Division and to continue to build the club program. The loss of the team’s top five players will may make for some rough going in the immediate future. Luckily, some of the players who are out now should be back in the future. Number 2 TJ Dyer is taking the season off to recover from shoulder surgery, and number 4 Max Kachur is completing an internship. Both may return to the team in the future. In the spring, the team will gain a top 3 player in Baxter Wathan, who played at Loomis and is spending the fall semester studying abroad in Greece. After the departure of coach and former number 1 Pedro Souza, Northeastern is looking for a new coach. There may be some bumps in the road as the Huskies restock their roster, but over time the team will be stronger.
