Philadelphia, PA — In their first season as a varsity program, Drexel compiled a 2-and-13 record, competed in the E Division at the Women’s National Team Championships, and finished the season ranked 35th in the nation. This season, the Dragons’ goal is to move closer to the top 20. All but one player from last year’s starting squad will be returning, and that player — Sofia Sanguinetti — competed at  number 9 for the team. Five new players will be joining the team and should add depth throughout the line-up. Damindhi Undangawa and Katie Barnes, a transfer who played #4 f0r Franklin and Marshall during the 2010-2011 season, are both expected to play in the top three. Laura Rahauser of Mercersberg Academy should find a place in the middle of the order, and Kaitlyn Money and Alexandra Dodson will likely play in the bottom third of the ladder. The addition of five new courts should give the program an edge, and head coach John White says that the team plans to train hard this season, praising how well they have come together on and off the court.
