Amherst, MA — At the 2012 Pioneer Valley College Squash Invitational, Hamilton and Wesleyan played a match.

At the event, Hamilton went 3-1. The Continentals defeated Colby, Amherst, and Wesleyan. They also lost to Mount Holyoke. Their NESCAC rival Wesleyan lost to Hamilton, Yale, and Franklin & Marshall.

The match at the number two position featured two talented first-year students:  Hilary Gray (Hamilton) and Lauren Nelson (Wesleyan). The two players played a tight three-game match, with Gray prevailing (11-8, 11-6, and 11-2). This is Gray’s first semester playing for the Continentals, but this was her second victory. Nelson has amassed 6 wins to date. In all likelihood, these two players will meet many more times over the next few years.
