Middletown, CT — Over the past few seasons, Wesleyan has grown its squash talent. Seniors Casey Simchik and Gwynne Hunter, who have played one-two for the Cardinals for their entire collegiate careers, will be joined this season by several talented first-year students: Grace Zimmerman, Tanesha Jackson, and Danielle Craig. Zimmerman may allow Simchik and Hunter to slide down in the ladder. Jackson and Craig will battle it out with the seniors for the remaining positions in the top five.
With its new players, Wesleyan is hoping to enter the top 15 and compete in the Kurtz Cup.
This season also reunites former teammates. Ashley Garrett and Tanesha Jackson are both alumnae of StreetSquash.
Wesleyan’s Rosembaum Squash Center was busy all summer hosting squash camps, which included professionals David Palmer, Julian Illingworth, and Shahier Razik. Coach Shona Kerr will be sharing her experiences with these great players with her team during the 2009-2010 season.
